164. Behold! In the creation of the heavens,
And the earth; in the alternation,
Of Nights and Days; in the ships gliding,
With what shall profit people, through the ocean;
In the rain-water God is sending,
Down from the sky, reviving all dead lands,
Therein dispersing creatures of all kinds;
In the manipulation of the winds,
And in the clouds most humbly 1 driven
Between the sky and earth: certainly in These things are certain Signs,
For men of reason!
165. And yet, some people set up idols,
To rival God, and give the adoration,
Due unto God to these! whereas the faithful's
Love of God is the greatest adoration;
Behold, if these transgressors could now see
Themselves, as when they face the Retribution,
They would then know: all Might is God's,
And Stern is God in retribution;
166. And then the leaders will declare themselves,
Clear from their followers, and all their ties,
Will break asunder, once they witness,
The scourge with their own eyes.
167. And those who had been following will say:
"If only we could get another chance,2
We surely would disown them just as they
1. Subserviently, obligingly, obediently.
2. To return to the world!
