Did us this Day renounce."
And thus will God their deeds to them display,
As nothing but regrets intense;
And never will they find a way,
Out of the Fire.
168. O Men, do eat of lawful, wholesome things,
Upon the earth and do not walk abreast
Of Satan's footsteps, for he is,
Your enemy, most manifest;
169. For he commands you only to
Evil and vice, and does encourage
That you should say of Allah things,
Of which you have no knowledge.
170. When they are told: "Follow the revelation
Of Allah", they reply: "No, no! We follow
Only the ways of our forefathers!"
What! Even though their fathers had been low,
In wisdom, ne'er upon the right direction?!
171. The state of disbelievers may be likened,
To the call of a shepherd to the flock:
Nothing they 1 hear but shouts and cries: "They are,
Deaf, dumb and blind, never able to think.
172. You who believe!
Eat of the wholesome things We have,
For you provided, and give thanks to God,
If Him alone it is you serve.
