Fazlollah Nikayin, The Quran; The First Poetic Translation (2000)

Upon his sons, and so did Jacob:
"O Children mine, Allah 1 has for you chosen
This faith; allow not, therefore, death to rob
You of your life but as submissive men."2

133. You surely were not witnesses to what
Jacob upon his death-bed said!
"What will you serve", he asked his children,
"After I have been gone?", they answered:
"We will be serving Your Ilah,3
The very God of your forefathers,
Abraham, Ishmael and Isaac,
The One and Only God; submitters,
We'll be to Him who ne'er go back."4

134. Those people now have passed away,
For them is what they earned,
And for you is what you have earned,
And you are not to answer questions
About those people's actions.

135. They say: "Follow the faith of Jews or Christians,
And you shall be upon the guided path!"
Say: By no means! The Unitarian faith,
Is that of Abraham; and he was never,
An idol worshiper!"

1. El, Il, Elohim in Hebrew as Allah in Arabic and similar words in other Semitic languages mean "God the One"; Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Mohammad did not speak French, German or English!

2. That is: Muslims, or submitters to the absolute will of the Almighty.

3. God.

4. Or "remain to him sincere muslims".
