Ali Quli Qarai, The Qur’ān with a Phrase-by-Phrase English Translation (2005)

21 and, surely, soon he will be well-pleased.

93. Sūrat al-Ḍuḥā 1

In the Name of Allah,
the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

1 By the morning brightness,
2 by the night when it is calm!
3 Your Lord has neither forsaken you
nor is He displeased with you,
4 and the Hereafter shall be better for you than the world.
5 Soon your Lord will give you [that with which]
you will be pleased.
6 Did He not find you an orphan, and shelter you?
7 Did He not find you astray, and guide you?
8 Did He not find you needy, and enrich you?
9 So, as for the orphan, do not oppress him;
10 and as for the beggar, do not chide him;
11 and as for your Lord’s blessing,
proclaim it!

94. Sūrat al-Sharḥ 2

In the Name of Allah,
the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

1 Did We not open your breast for you

1 Named after ‘the morning brightness’ (ḍuḥā) mentioned in verse 1.

2 Named ‘Opening’ after the phrase “Did We not open” (a lam nashraḥ) in verse 1.
