Ali Quli Qarai, The Qur’ān with a Phrase-by-Phrase English Translation (2005)

48 The day when they are dragged into the Fire
on their faces,
[it will be said to them,] ‘Taste the touch of hell!’
49 Indeed We have created everything in a measure,
50 and Our command is but a single [word],
like the twinkling of an eye.
51 Certainly We have destroyed your likes.
So is there anyone who will be admonished?
52 Everything they have done is in the books,
53 and everything big and small,
is committed to writing.
54 Indeed the Godwary
will be amid gardens and streams,
55 in the abode of truthfulness 1
with an omnipotent King.

55. Sūrat al-Raḥmān 2

In the Name of Allah,
the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

1 The All-beneficent
2 has taught the Qur’ān.
3 He created man,
4 [and] taught him articulate speech.
5 The sun and the moon are [disposed] calculatedly,
6 and the herb and the tree prostrate [to Allah].

1 Or ‘in a worthy abode.’

2 The sūrah takes its name from verse 1, which mentions “the All-beneficent” (al-raḥmān).
