Ali Quli Qarai, The Qur’ān with a Phrase-by-Phrase English Translation (2005)

nor do I desire that they should feed Me.
58 Indeed it is Allah who is the All-provider,
Powerful, All-strong.
59 Indeed the lot of those who do wrong [now]
will be like the lot of their [earlier] counterparts.
So let them not ask Me to hasten on [that fate].
60 Woe to the faithless
for the day they are promised!

52. Sūrat al-Ṭūr 1

In the Name of Allah,
the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

1 By the Mount [Sinai],
2 by the Book inscribed
3 on an unrolled parchment;
4 by the House greatly frequented;2
5 by the vault raised high,
6 by the surging sea:3
7 indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely befall.
8 There is none who can avert it.
9 On the day when the sky whirls violently,
10 and the mountains move with an awful motion:
11 woe to the deniers on that day
12 — those who play around in vain talk,
13 the day when they will be shoved

1 The sūrah takes its name from “the mount” (ṭūr) mentioned in verse 1.

2 The Holy Ka‘bah, or its counterpart, in the fourth (or the seventh) heaven, frequented by the angels.

3 Or ‘the sea set afire.’
