Ali Quli Qarai, The Qur’ān with a Phrase-by-Phrase English Translation (2005)
on the Day of Resurrection
concerning that about which they used to differ.
26 Does it not dawn upon them
how many generations We have destroyed before them,
amid [the ruins of] whose dwellings they walk?
There are indeed signs in that.
Will they not then listen?
27 Do they not see
that We carry water to the parched earth
and with it We bring forth crops
of which they eat, themselves and their cattle?
Will they not then see?
28 And they say,
‘When will this judgement be,
should you be truthful?’
29 Say, ‘On the day of judgement
their [newly found] faith shall not avail the faithless,
nor will they be granted any respite.’
30 So turn away from them, and wait.
They too are waiting.
33. Sūrat al-Aḥzāb 1
the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
1 O Prophet!
Be wary of Allah
1 The sūrah takes its name from verse 20 which refers to the campaign of the confederates (aḥzāb) against the Prophet (ṣ).
