Marmaduke Pickthall, The Meaning of The Glorious Koran. An Explanatory Translation (1930)

SÛRAH CVIII

Al-Kauthar takes its name from a word in the first verse. The disbelievers used to taunt the Prophet with the fact that he had no son, and therefore none to uphold his religion after him.

Abundance

Revealed at Mecca
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

1. Lo! We have given th.ee Abundance;

2. So pray unto thy Lord, and sacrifice.

3. Lo! it is thy insulter (and not thou) who is without posterity.
