‘Rather we found our fathers acting likewise.’
75 He said,
‘Have you regarded what you have been worshipping,
76 you and your ancestors?
77 They are indeed hateful to me,
but the Lord of all the worlds,
78 who created me,
it is He who guides me,
79 and provides me with food and drink,
80 and when I get sick, it is He who cures me;
81 who will make me die,
then He will bring me to life,
82 and who, I hope, will forgive me my iniquities
on the Day of Retribution.’1
83 ‘My Lord! Grant me [unerring] judgement,
and unite me with the Righteous.
84 Confer on me a worthy repute
among the posterity,
85 and make me one of the heirs to the paradise of bliss.
86 Forgive my father,
for he is one of those who are astray.
87 Do not disgrace me
on the day that they will be resurrected,
88 the day when neither wealth nor children will avail,
89 except him who comes to Allah with a sound heart,’2
90 and paradise will be brought near for the Godwary,
91 and hell will be brought into view for the perverse,
92 and they shall be told:
